DIY Kayak Camera Mount Research

First, I started my search for an easy and simple project on YouTube. Then I went over to Amazon to find the camera mount I wanted. After scrolling a few times, I found the mount I needed. I bought: MOSHUSO Camera Mount Clamp with 360° Ballhead Arm, for DSLR Camera/Field Monitor/LED.

Next, I went to my local Home Depot and purchased the correct size PVC type I needed to make to stick part of the DIY Kayak Camera Mount.

I ended up selecting two pieces of ½  PVC pipe would make the main part of the mount. By selecting two pieces, I can take them apart and store them in my Apache Camera Box. Each piece of the pipe cost me $3.49.

Having the pieces of the PVC pipe open at each end, I had to make sure to have caps for each end so no water would go inside the pipe. Each end cap has to be ¾ inch to give it a tight fit. Each end cap costs .82 cents.

To connect the two long pieces of the pipe together, you must have a ¾ coupler. The coupler allows each two-foot section of pipe to be connected to a 4-foot section. This cost a whooping .54 cents.

Before leaving the store, I dry-fitted each piece together to make sure it all fits snug and correct.

I needed a T-bolt to hold the DIY Kayak Camera Mount to my Nucanoe F12 rail system. Being a kayak bass fisherman, I always have these lying around my fish cave. I found the T-bolt from my junk box, it was time to get the mount built.

I drilled a hole for the T-bolt to be inserted into the end cap. Next, attach a nut to the bolt inside the cap as well. This helps with keeping the bolt secured inside the cap.

After assembly, I attached everything to my kayak rail and found it a little wobbly. I headed down to the local hardware store to pick up two more items. The first was a can of spray foam and the second item was pipe insulation. The spray foam will help stabilize the PVC pipe. The pipe insulation will help with protecting the charging cord for my GO Pro Hero 7 Silver

After making the final preparations for the DIY Kayak Camera Mount it off to film a kayak bass fishing trip. Head over to my YOUTUBE Channel and catch the Pole in action and be sure to subscribe as well.
